Handling and Storage Precautions |
Benzoyl Peroxide Paste is not an explosive material. It
decomposes very slowly even at room temperature into
radicals. Store in a cool place in original container
away from all sources of heat. Protect from open fire,
steam pipes, radiators and direct sunlight. Benzoyl
Peroxide Paste should not be stored with acids,
accelerator or easily oxidized material. |

Fires |
In case of fire saturate the paste with coarse water
spray, foam, coolant or carbon dioxide extinguishers may
be used. |

Spill/Waste Disposal |
A drum of vermiculite or Perlite is to be used to soak up
spillage.
After the spill is absorbed, the material should be
disposed of by having a trench in an isolated area and may
be ignited with a kerosene-soaked rag at the end of 6 –
feet steel rod. Add to the the peroxide gradually about
10 times its weight of a 10% Sodium Hydroxide solution.
Agitation will break up any lums that may form. |
