Applications:
Polyester Curing :
Curing agent for UP resins.
Temperature range : 130 – 1600 C. Dosage : 2-4% as supplied. Shelf
– Life (gel time of resin and peroxide) at ambivalent temperature – several
months, depending on resin type. Sensitive to some fillers and pigments, as
well as to cobalt salts or tertiary amines. Shelf life can be prolonged
considerably by adding 0.1 - 0.3 % inhibitor.
Curing
Characteristics :
The optimum temperatures
range for Hot Press Moulding is 130 – 1600 C.
In the range of 85 – 900
C (Kick off temperature), the curing rate is low, unless there is
reaction exotherm eg. within a heat rationing mould. Really short cure times of
1 – 3 minutes can be achieved only above 1200 C.
Processing Methods :
Mainly hot press moulding of
sheet moulding compounds (SMC) or dough moulding compounds (DMC), as well as
dripping into baths of insulating varnishes.

suitable curing agents, influence of temperature and on Hot Press Moulding can
be obtained on special request.
SAFE HANDLING :
Safety
Measures :
When working with
PLASPEROX TBP – 50, always wear eye protection and protective gloves. Do
not eat, drink or smoke. Avoid any contact with eyes and skin, wash thoroughly
with soap and water. If splashed in the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of
water and seek medical attention. Extinguish fire involving peroxides from a
safe distance using copious amounts of water.
Mixing
/ Dissolving :
Mix in peroxides gradually in
small amounts. In this way localized accumulations of peroxides are avoided
especially in highly viscous paste or powder mixtures. Avoid excessive friction
which can cause local overheating. Never mix peroxides directly with
accelerator, activators or other reducing agents (risk of explosion).
